chapter997

That's absolutely right if you're being rigorous, there's no such thing as zero risk. A perfect outcome just isn't possible."

"If you really want a guarantee, the only way is to skip the surgery entirely."

"But if we hope for her to wake up and truly recover, surgery is the only path forward."

The cluster of doctors all nodded in agreement with Calliope's assessment.

"Miracle Doctor, do you have a better surgical plan?"

"If you do, we'd be more than willing to learn from you!"

"We considered several different approaches, but the risk of failure was enormous.

The chances of success were simply too low for us to proceed."

"I'll need to examine the patient first." Calliope addressed them with a calm steadiness. "Only by seeing her myself can I say for certain what's possible."

The other doctors agreed at once.

"Yes, let's take a look."

"She's right this way. Come-let's see what we're dealing with."

With a sense of urgency, the group led Calliope to a private room. The setup was on par with a high-end hospital suite, the latest medical equipment lining the walls, and the patient resting quietly on a state-of-the-art bed.

Just as Calliope had expected, the woman lying there looked uncannily like her. She'd known there was a resemblance she'd seen the videos and photographs but seeing the woman in person, she couldn't help but pause in shock. The similarity was almost eerie; if someone had claimed they were sisters, no one would doubt it. The resemblance was so striking they could have passed for twins. Only now did the rest of the doctors notice it, too. Earlier, their minds had been wrapped up in talk of surgery and treatment, but now, confronted with the two faces side by side, the resemblance was undeniable. One by one, they glanced from Calliope to the woman on the bed, eyes wide with surprise.

But Calliope and Silas remained silent on the matter, and no one dared to ask aloud what they all were thinking.

Without a word, Calliope check the woman's body, then reviewed her scans and test results, piecing together a diagnosis. Silas stood by, silent and motionless, while the other doctors watched Calliope with anxious anticipation, waiting for her verdict.

At last after what felt like ages-Calliope finally spoke. "There's about an eighty percent chance we can pull this off."

She looked over at Silas. "If you want to try, this is the best shot you'll have. I can't promise the remaining twenty percent."

"Eighty percent?" one of the doctors echoed in disbelief.

"That's incredible!"

"We had our hopes pinned on maybe a ten percent chance, at best!

"Incredible no wonder you're called the Miracle Doctor!"

"With numbers like that, we have to try the surgery!"

"Miracle Doctor, would you be willing to walk us through your method?"

֧

"Your approach must be entirely different from ours. We couldn't see any way forward that would yield those odds our techniques are just too difficult to be effective

All eyes-doctors and nurses

alike-turned to Calliope, faces full of curiosity and awe. They were

desperate to learn just what set her

methods apart to see for

themselves just how extraordinary her skills were.

Calliope nodded. "Yes, it's a different approach from what you've considered." Her tone was

matter-of-fact, yet assured. This is a technique only I can perform it's not something just anyone could pull off

But it does offer a much higher likelihood of success, and should give her a much better chance at recovery."

She explained her surgical plan in a few clear, precise sentences, discussing the theory behind it and inviting their input.

As she spoke, the room fell into a stunned silence as the doctors hung on her every word, their expressions shifting from skepticism to sheer awe.

"This is brilliant! It actually makes sense-why didn't we think of that?"

"I can't believe it never occurred to us. Even so, even if we'd thought of it, none of

us could actually pull this off-it's far too complex."

"We can only admire your expertise, Doctor. It's truly extraordinary."
