Chapter 1006

chapter1006

Sandy felt like there was no hope left for her.

Her adoptive father had abused her, treated her like she was nothing more than a tool. Her real parents were even worse. To them, she was just a spare part, dragged back home only so they could take her kidney and save their precious son.

And then there was Soren. There was Greg. They'd all said they cared about her, promised they loved her, but in the end, what did any of them do except hurt her?

What had she done to deserve any of this? Why did everyone around her seem determined to break her?

Hot, angry tears slid silently down her cheeks.

"I just want back what was mine. How is that wrong?" Sandy's voice trembled as she glared at Lydia, her eyes burning with resentment and frustration.

They both grew up in the same countryside. So why did Lydia always get to act like she was so much better? Was it just because she got to be Miracle Hands' apprentice?

Just thinking about Kevin made Sandy's bitterness twist even deeper. After the Capital College academic competition, she'd called him three times. She just wanted to visit, to beg for a chance. He shot her down every time, saying he'd never take on another student. If he wasn't Miracle Hands, she never would've lowered herself like that. Old bastard!

Lydia looked at her like she was crazy.

"You agreed to donate your kidney to Luke. You got what you wanted in exchange. Now you use these dirty tricks to take it back? Please, Sandy. You're just making excuses. Why not just admit it? You wanted Luke dead."

Those words hit Sandy right in the gut.

"I'm just taking back what's rightfully mine! Why would I want him dead? He just didn't care about his own life. It got nothing to do with me. Why should I have to save him? What makes him so special? Just because he's the Smith family's son?" Sandy practically screamed.

But she would never admit it, not in front of Lydia, that there was a dark little secret buried deep inside her heart. She really did want Luke to die.

She hated Jenson, hated Milana, hated Lydia, Mrs. Smith, Frank, Soren... but the one she hated most of all was Luke.

If not for Luke, her life wouldn't be like this.

"As you wished. Luke is dead. Too bad about your kidney." Lydia's voice was cold, her face twisted in mockery.

Sandy's whole body went still. She stared at Lydia, wide-eyed. "What did you say?"

Lydia just sneered. "You wanted him gone, didn't you? Now that he's dead, is it really so shocking?"

"Didn't you go to save him?" Sandy shot back.

Lydia didn't answer. Her face was grim, weighed down by a pain she'd never shake off. Failing to bring Luke back was something she'd never forgive herself for.

Sandy saw it and let out a sharp, spiteful laugh. "What happened, Lydia? Weren't you supposed to be se capable? And what about your amazing boyfriend? All that power and you couldn't save one person?"

She paused, then screamed, her voice cracked with anger, "He's dead! What about my kidney? Lydia! Are you lying to me? If he's dead, what happens to my kidney?"

Lydia couldn't be bothered anymore. She waved her hand to have her men tie up the hysterical Sandy.

Meanwhile, Greg had already made his escape. There was a secret passage in the casino and Sweet Potato and Aiden hadn't managed to catch him.

"He got away!" Aiden slammed his fist into the wall, fuming. They'd been so close, but the hidden door shut before they could get through.

"That bastard is a slippery one. Bet he planned for something like this all along kept that secret passage

just incase. Damn it!" Sweet

rato looked just as pissed.

The two of them went to report back while the special police squad joined the investigation. Greg owned a whole web of shady, illegal

businesses in the city. And Sandy, being Greg's woman and the one who masterminded Luke's kidnapping, was a crucial witness. They had to make sure she stayed alive.

Since Sandy had taken a bullet to the leg, she was rushed to the hospital. When the

doctor drew blood for a test, he looked up in surprise.

"She's pregnant. It's not even a month along, but there are signs she might

miscarry."
