Chapter 1043

chapter1043

"If you're here to stir up trouble, you can leave right now."

Juna glanced at Lucinda, loving the way she tried to hide her anger behind a forced calm. Nothing felt more satisfying. "Lydia, do you feel like staying and hanging out with them? Juna asked, turning to her friend.

Lucinda almost lost it. If Lydia and Juna actually decided to stay, her night would be completely ruined. There was no way she could handle being on edge around them

all night.

She silently begged Lydia to just walk away.

Lydia shrugged. "This is boring. Let's go."

Juna gave everyone a helpless smile. "Well, you all have fun. We're out."

Lucinda wanted to set off fireworks. She put on her best polite face. "Take care. We won't see your out."

As soon as the two left, the whole group exploded.

Lucinda, why were you so scared of them? You should've just kicked them out."

"Exactly. The Davis family might be rich, but they're nowhere near as loaded as your family."

"Seriously, I can't stand Juna acting like she owns the place."

"And Lydia... she's so cold and distant. She just came along with Juna to mess with us, didn't she?"

"Let's just drop it. Anyway, everyone's saying the Rivers family is about to get booted from the Capital's social circle, and it's all because of Lydia."

"I heard that too. Daisy got on Lydia's bad side. Honestly, compared to Juna, Lydia is way scarier."

Lucinda frowned. Lydia again. Always Lydia. She was so over it.

Outside the private room, Juna looked at Lydia. "So, how long are you going to have Lucinda keep running wild? Did you see how fake she was acting?"

Lydia raised an eyebrow. "I can't let the trail go cold now."

Juna sighed. Whatever. Oh, by the way, this weekend is Carson's 80th birthday.

You know, the Go Association president. Are you going?"

Lydia paused. She'd almost forgotten Carson's birthday. Thank goodness there was still time to get a gift.

Juna thought Lydia was hesitating "Carson's kind of a big deal. I heard pretty much every important family in the Capital's going hoping he i mentor their kids." fo

"I'll be there," Lydia said with a nod. No matter how busy she was, she couldn't miss Carson's 80th.

Juna gave her a look. "Wait. Don't tell me Carson is your mentor too?"

Even though Juna and Lydia were close, there were still so many things Juna didn't

know. It wasn't about trust. Lydia just had too many secrets.

Lydia flashed her a smile. You'll find out soon enough."

Juna was left speechless. Knowing Lydia, that probably meant yes. Seriously, how

could someone her age be this ridiculously talented?

The week went by in a blur.

Kylie and Cameron called to say they'd pick Lydia up, but she told them she had her own car and they didn't need to go out of their way.

Lucinda, on the other hand, really

hoped Kylie and Cameron would pick her up instead. But Caspian had called Kylie that morning to get her permission to pick Lucinda up himself.

Lucinda had to walk quite a ways from campus before she finally spotted Caspian's car. She felt so annoyed. She really didn't want

anyone to know she was dating him.

Lucinda, you must be tired. Let me carry that," Caspian said as he walked over and took her luggage.

Lucinda's face was stiff with annoyance. "You're so busy with work. You could've just sent the driver."
