Chapter 1093

chapter1093

Tina turned on the water, then glanced at Lydia as she stepped into the bathroom. She hesitated for a moment before speaking up. "There's something I'm not sure if I should tell you or not."

Lydia raised an eyebrow, curious. What is it? Go ahead, you can tell me.

With Lydia's permission, Tina didn't hold back. "You wouldn't believe how happy Lucinda was when she found out you were being investigated. Your parents have been so worried they can barely eat or sleep, and Blake even put his work aside to ask around about you. But Lucinda? She was literally humming to herself in her room, so cheerful it was almost annoying. And it gets worse. We overheard her and old Mr. Norwood talking behind your back, saying you must have done something illegal to be questioned by the authorities. Just now, when she went after your grandpa, there was a smile on her face she couldn't even hide.

If Tina had to list everything Lucinda did, she could go on forever, but she focused on the most important things. She was just so frustrated. Why did Lucinda always have to be so spiteful?

Lydia nodded, her expression calm. "Thank you for telling me, Tina. I appreciate it." She paused, then asked, "By the way, how's grandpa doing lately?"

Tina's face grew complicated at the mention of him. "Ever since he got back from the hospital, he's been acting kind of strange. He's just not himself. Everyone says it's because his foot is injured and it's put him in a bad mood. Lydia, did you notice it too?"

Lydia nodded. "Yeah, he does seem a little different. Okay, you can get back to your work now."

"All right."

Once Tina left, Lydia narrowed her eyes, thoughtful. She made a mental note to ask about Mr. Lowe's condition later. She didn't want her own grandfather to have any problems, too.

The moment Lydia stepped into the bathroom, her phone, left on the vanity, started ringing and stopping, over and over again. On the other end, Connor was starting to panic. He'd heard she was out already, so why wasn't she picking up? If Lydia

hadn't sent him a quick message before heading in, he probably would have jumped on the next flight back from Country D.

While she was in the bath, Lydia vaguely heard her phone buzzing, but right now all she wanted was to soak and relax. Whoever it was could wait a little while.

Meanwhile, Connor was running out of patience. With no other options, he called Kylie instead.

Kylie was surprised to see Connor's name pop up on her phone. Just a few days ago, none of them could reach Lydia but now she was home. Why was he calling her?

"Connor? Are you still busy at work right now?"

Connor took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "Mrs. Norwood, is Lydia back yet?"

Kylie paused for a beat. "Yeah, Lydia's back. She's fine. Didn't she tell you?"

That last question felt like a punch

to Connor's chest. Did she even

realize how worried he'd been these past few days?

Uh, I couldn't get through to her phone, so I was a little worried. I'm just glad she's home."

"Oh, Lydia probably hasn't checked her phone yet. Don't worry, okay?"

Kylie remembered that her daughter was probably taking a bath right now.

"I understand, Mrs. Norwood."

After hanging up, Kylie smiled at Cameron "Connor's changed so much. He never used to be like this. Ever since Lydra came back, he's been so proactive think hes really fallen for our Lydia."
