chapter114
Greenward Power wasn't a huge company, but with Norwood Enterprises' support, the perks were just as good as the headquarters. Nobody wanted to risk losing a job like this.
"Good morning, Ms. Norwood."
Lydia was passing the front desk when Jenny, dressed in the receptionist uniform, greeted her with a polite smile.
Lydia paused, her brows pulling together. "What are you doing here?"
The two receptionists from yesterday had both quit, and it had happened so suddenly that HR hadn't had time to find replacements. For now, they'd brought Jenny over from the design department to fill in.
"Ms. Norwood, I... I didn't have anything urgent going on in the design department, and HR hasn't found new receptionists yet, so they asked me to help out for a couple of days. I'll be back in design soon."
Lydia's face darked a little.
They really pulled an intern out of the design team just to cover the front desk? She couldn't help thinking, Unbelievable.
"Did you bring your portfolio?"
Jenny was surprised that Lydia asked. She quickly handed over the folder she'd prepared. Yes, Ms. Norwood. Here it is. Please let me know what you think."
"Alright."
As Lydia walked away, Jenny smacked her own forehead, annoyed with herself. How could she forget to ask if Ms. Norwood's hand was feeling any better?
Lydia had barely disappeared when a cocky young man walked in, all swagger and brand-name labels, a limited-edition diamond watch glinting on his wrist as he checked the time.
Four security guards straightened up as soon as they saw him. "Good morning, Mr. Ragain."
Henry nodded, barely acknowledging them. He glanced up and immediately noticed the new face at the front desk.
Well, well, when did we get a new receptionist? She's cute." Henry's eyes lingered on Jenny as she quietly organized the papers on her desk.
His lackey, always eager to please, shook his head. I... I'm not sure, sir."
Henry sauntered over and tapped the counter. "Are you new here?"
Jenny knew exactly who Henry Ragain was. He was the general manager son of Parker Ragain, and his reputation for lusting for girls was legendary. It seemed like every pretty girl in the secretariat pool design, finance, or sales had some kind of rumor attached to him.
"Good morning, Mr. Ragain. I'm an intern from the design department, just filling in here for a bit. Jenny had heard plenty about Henry. She wanted nothing to do with him.
Henry raised an eyebrow. "Oh? I don't remember seeing you in design."
"I'm just a junior assistant. It's not surprising you haven't noticed me."
"Give me your number so I can add you." Henry pulled out his phone.
Jenny's face went pale. She kept her head down, her voice soft and careful. Mr. Ragain, I... I already have a boyfriend."
The truth was, she didn't. But she'd
heard the stories. Henry did
whatever he wanted in the office. he liked a girl, he'd offer her a hundred thousand for just one night That was nothing to a rich duy like him, but for regular people, it was life-changing money.
Plenty of girls went out of their way to run into Henry, hoping for a fling or maybe to become his official girlfriend. Even if that didn't happen, walking away with the cash wasn' cash wasn't so bad.
Henry hadn't expected Jenny to turn him down. His easy smile faded, eyes
narrowing. You have a boyfriend?"
Jenny nodded quickly. "Yes."
She thought that would be the end of it, but Henry just scoffed, leaning in close so
only she could hear. "I like girls with boyfriends. Makes it more fun.
