chapter1245
He'd barely finished a third of the test, and Lydia was already done with everything?
Lydia raised an eyebrow. "The paper's right here. You have eyes, don't you? Take a look."
A couple of the examiners immediately stepped over to check her answers. The moment they saw her paper, their jaws practically hit the floor. Her handwriting was neat, her answers flawless the kind of perfection that left them speechless, like she'd solved things they couldn't even dream up themselves.
Anders's face turned a shade of red that could rival raw steak.
Lucy looked like she'd swallowed a lemon. "How... how did you even do that?" Lydia just shrugged. "Weren't you watching me the whole time?"
Then she glanced over at Noah. "Are you feeling hot or something? You've been wiping sweat off your forehead nonstop. Her voice dripped with sarcasm.
Lucy and Anders suddenly remembered what they'd said earlier that morning, mocking the students from Lydia's country for being so nervous they kept wiping away cold sweat. Now, it was their own teammate sweating bullets.
Noah's cheeks burned. He'd never felt this embarrassed. He shot a glare at the examiners, blaming them for making the questions so tough. If even he couldn't answer them, what was the point?
But Lydia wasn't done. She turned to Lucy and Anders next.
"Since I've passed your test, maybe you two should show everyone how it's really done."
Lucy and Anders looked confused. "What are you talking about?
Lydia grabbed two sheets of scratch paper, scribbled something quickly, and slid them across the table. "Just three questions. Let's see how the international judges stack up. I'm sure the students would love to see."
Anders jumped to his feet. "You're provoking us!"
"It's called fairness. When someone's really got the skills, all those rumors and accusations just look ridiculous.
Lucy's eyes narrowed. "Who do you think you are, testing us?"
Lydia answered coolly, I just don't think you're qualified to be international judges. Don't you want to prove you deserve it?"
"You..."
"You accused me of cheating. I proved my ability. Now let's see if you're as qualified as you claim. Fair enough, right?"
Lucy and Anders were about to protest, but the head examiner, Emerson, cut in. "Since Lydia has
gou questions just treat this
as an academic exchange
Lydia nodded. "Exactly. You're not afraid to answer questions from a student, are
you? That would be kind of embarrassing if word got out.
She'd backed them into a corner.
Even if they didn't want to play along, they had no choice. Lydia was just standing up for
herself she was representing her whole country.
Lucy let out a sharp laugh. Just three questions? Fine. Let's show you what we can do."
She grabbed a pen, and Anders sat beside her to check out Lydia's questions.
But as soon as they read them, they froze.
These questions... There was no way a first-year medical student could have come up with this stuff.
Lydia watched their stunned faces, then turned to Emerson with a smile. "Can we start the afternoon exam now? I'd hate for everyone to waste their time just because of me."
Emerson checked his watch and nodded. "Go ahead."
He glanced at Lucy and Anders, both of whom were now sweating in the silence.
"But they..."
Lydia shrugged. "If they can't answer, there are plenty of other examiners here. Someone's bound to figure it out.
None of the examiners had expected this. Now, they all felt a little indignant, not quite ready to admit they'd been outdone by a student.
