chapter1292
He held her face gently in his hands, pressing soft kisses to her cheeks.
"I want to give you the biggest, most beautiful wedding anyone in the Capital has ever seen, so everyone will know..." His voice grew quiet, his words wrapped in a kind of sacred tenderness. "I've finally found my bride."
The next day, Connor and Lydia flew back to the Capital.
To keep the Vision Rejuvenation Grass safe, and to avoid any trouble, they decided it was best not to tell anyone they had found it.
They both had too many enemies, in plain sight and hiding in the shadows. Lydia couldn't see right now, and she could only imagine how many people were secretly celebrating her bad luck. If anyone discovered Connor had a way to cure her, they'd do anything to ruin it. Keeping it a secret was the safest move.
When they walked in, Kylie and Cameron met them with hopeful faces.
"Connor, Lydia, did you... did you find anything?"
Connor looked defeated and shook his head. "No. But I'm not giving up. I'll search the whole world if I have to. I'll find a way to heal Lydia's eyes, no matter how long it takes."
Lydia couldn't see his expression, but the way his voice sounded, low and a little rough, made her think Connor could have been an actor. He really sold it.
Kylie and Cameron's faces fell. For a second, neither of them seemed to know what to say.
Lucinda was home, too.
When she heard what Connor said,
she could barely keep from laughing. He hadn't found it? Perfect. Lydia all she

Sooner or later, he'd realize Lydia was just a burden. And when that happened, Lucinda was sure she'd be the one to marry Confor instead.
But before she could finish that thought, Connor stood up from the sofa and gave
Kylie and Cameron a deep, respectful bow.
Kylie and Cameron stared at him, totally confused.
Then Connor Spoke up. "Mr. Norwood, Mrs. Norwood, the Vision Rejuvenation Grass is hard to find but I swear I'll keep searching. Still, it won't happen overnight With L like this, just... leant stand being away from her. So I want to marry her. It would let me take care of her, every day."
The shock on Lucinda's face was almost comical. She stared at Connor, convinced she must be hearing things. Was this real? It couldn't be. What was so special about Lydia? She was blind, and Connor still wanted to marry her? Why?
Cameron and Kylie were stunned, too. Lydia and Connor had been engaged since they were kids, but an engagement was nothing like actually getting married. Lydia was blind, and they couldn't bear to let her go right now.
"Well, this is..." Kylie started, but her words trailed off. She didn't know what to say.
Cameron was struggling, too. Lydia had only just come back to the Norwood family. They hadn't even told the world who she was yet. Now Connor wanted to marry her, and it felt like someone was trying to take their precious daughter away.
"Connor, we can take care of Lydia, really. She's still so young..."
Lucinda jumped in right away. Yeah, Connor, Lydia's only a college freshman. She hasn't even graduated yet. It's way too soon to talk about marriage."
