chapter136
For once, Lucinda felt like she'd found someone who truly got her. Listening to Rose vent about Lydia, it was like meeting an old friend who shared all her frustrations.
"Ever since Lydia started at the company, Mr. Ragain and I haven't had a single peaceful day, Rose complained, her voice rising. "Now everyone at work is fed up with her, but your parents act like she's the best thing that ever happened. They ignore everything we say. Lucinda, can you please talk to them for my sake? We just want what's best for the company."
Lucinda acted shocked. "Really? So much has been going on at the office these past couple of days?"
Rose started crying even harder. "Yes, Lucinda. Can you please let meknow, who is this Lydia anyway? Why are your parents so taken with her? It's like they can't tell right from wrong anymore."
Rose had been wracking her brain, but she still couldn't figure out where Lydia had come from.
"Uh... Did my mom not tell you?" Lucinda looked uncomfortable. The truth was, she didn't want to say anything. She definitely didn't want anyone to know that Lydia was the real Norwood heiress, while she was just some farmer's daughter from the sticks.
Rose shook her head. "No, she didn't. Lucinda, do you know something? Please, just tell me, okay?"
Lucinda looked helpless. "If my mom didn't tell you, how could I? You'll just have to wait for her to say it herself."
Rose was not giving up. "Lucinda, please, just tell me. If you do, I swear I won't breathe a word to anyone."
Lucinda glanced around, then leaned in and whispered, "She saved my grandpa's life. She just came from the countryside. Now she's living here as my mom's daughter. You can't tell anyone about this."
"What?" Rose's eyes went wide.
"Shh, you have to keep it a secret."
"But... how could she be your mom's daughter?"
"Why couldn't she be?"
"Wait, did your mom just... adopt her or something?"
Lucinda quickly stepped back. "I never said anything. I have to goin now or my parents will get mad if they find out I'm still out here. You and ivi Ragam shouldn't war either! M
My parents aren't even home.'
With those words, Lucinda and Grace headed back inside, a bodyguard following them and carefully holding a pink umbrella over Lucinda's head. She looked every inch the rich girl she was supposed to be.
Rose finally got up, her face twisted with anger. "So she's just some hick from the middle of nowhere. And she actually thinks she can boss us around."
Parker let out a cold snort. "I knew it. I've never heard of her in the Norwood family before. So she saved the old man, and Kylie and Cameron just took her in as a daughter because they felt they owed her?
Rose rolled her eyes. She's just a random girl. What's so special about her? Kylie and Cameron are only letting her act out because they feel guilty."
A dark look came over Parker's face, his lips curling into a cold smile. If that's how it is, then I'm gonna get real."
Rose seemed to sense what he was thinking. She looked worried. Honey, what are you planning?"
He waved her off. Relax. I'll have someone handle her quietly. Think of it as doing the Norwood family a favor getting rid of a problem. Who knows, maybe Cameron and Kylie with even thank me later."
