Chapter 243

chapter243

The officer's face, already stern, turned even more severe. "Young lady, if you don't work with ys, we will have to arrest you."

Lydia let out a short laugh. "Arrest me? According to what law? What exactly am I being accused of?"

"Save it. You can explain everything down at the station."

A cold edge flickered in Lydia's eyes. "You're really taking me in?"

The man leading the group was Corbyn, known as the captain of the Fifth Division.

He smirked. "Just because you drive a fancy car, you think you're untouchable? The law's the law."

Lydia's car was impressive, sure, but that didn't mean anything here. Lots of people with expensive rides had landed in jail and never made it out. Look at Parker from Greenward Power, for example. He had the richest man in town backing him, but even he and his whole family were behind bars now. Compared to that, this girl was nothing. Derek and Terrance had already embarrassed themselves by failing to handle her. Their incompetence had ticked off Mr. Reeves, who suspended them both without hesitation. Today, Corbyn was determined to finish the job and bring her in.

Lydia gave a cold smile. "Alright then. If that's what you want, I'll go with you."

Corbyn grunted. "Yeah, let's move."

Lydia stepped out of her car. Two officers moved in to grab her, but she slipped past them, face icy. "I can walk myself."

Corbyn scoffed. "Attitude, huh? Fine, move."

As Lydia got into the police car, she quickly pulled out her phone and sent a

message. Corbyn was on her in an instant. "Until the investigation's done, you're not allowed to contact anyone. That's procedure."

Lydia didn't bother to hand over her phone. She just put it in her pocket, voice dripping with sarcasm. "If you're following the law, what are you afraid of? you guilty?"

Oaresfeeling

He snorted. "We are not afraid. You're the one who got violent. You should be worried about yourself. Now move."

To keep her from trying anything else, Corbyn sat right beside her, eyes sharp. If she made another move for her phone, he wouldn't hesitate to stop her, no matter how young she was.

Lydia stayed perfectly calm. Her face didn't show a hint of nerves, which made Corbyn uneasy. Why was she so composed?

He quietly pulled out his own phone and shot a text to Allen. [Deputy Chief, she's in custody. We're on the way back.]

Allen, who was being waited on by two girls, smiled at the message. He sent back a single word. [Good.]

Then he added, [Make her confess.]

Corbyn knew exactly what that meant. Word was, this girl had pissed off Mr. Reeves's niece, who was still laid up in the hospital He replied right away. [Don't worry, Deputy Chief. I've got this.]

Allen grinned, then called his sister Miranda.

She picked up without hesitation. "Allen, what's happening? Did you catch her?"

Allen clicked his tongue. "It's just a random kid. Not a big deal. Corbyn just messaged me. They're bringing her in now. Trust me, as Louise's uncle, I'm going to make sure she gets justice."

Miranda sounded delighted. "Wow, Corbyn is fast. She's already on her way to the station?"

"Of course. Once she confesses, you get to decide what happens next. And trust me, she'll confess. One way or another," Allen said, jaw clenched.
