Chapter 287

chapter287

What was going on? Seriously, this was just weird.

Lydia was so wiped out these days that, for the first time in forever, she actually slept through her alarm. She only woke up when Tina came knocking on her door. When she finally checked the clock, it was already seven thirty. Normally, she would be halfway to the office by now.

She rubbed her eyes and called out, "Are Mom and Dad up?"

Tina gave her a warm smile. Yes, Lydia. Your parents, Garrett, and Lucinda are all downstairs waiting for you."

"Okay, I'll change and come down right away."

Downstairs, Lucinda was practically bouncing as she teased Cameron and Kylie. "Dad, Mom, my exam results are in. Guess what I got?"

Cameron and Kylie exchanged a look. Clearly, Lucinda was thrilled, so her score must be amazing.

"With that grin, I bet getting into Capital College or Oakwood College will be a breeze for you," Cameron joked, laughing.

Kylie thought for a second. "You must've scored over seven hundred."

Lucinda's face lit up with pride. "Mom, you're right." Then she turned to Garrett. "Garrett, what about you? How high do you think I scored?"

Garrett smiled. He knew Lucinda's prep classes and tutoring before finals had cost a fortune. She was always one of the top students, though she could be a little unpredictable at times. But for these finals, she had been completely focused. Garrett thought about it. I'd say somewhere between seven twenty and seven thirty. Any more specific and I'd just be guessing.

Lucinda looked even prouder. "Come on, you're underestimating me."

Cameron, Kylie, and Garrett were all caught off guard.

Lucinda! You did even better than that?" Kylie said, looking amazed. I thought seven thirty was already incredible."

Cameron shook his head in disbelief. Alright, Lucinda, tell us. What did you actually get?"

Lucinda kept up her little act, giving Cameron a mischievous look. "Dad, what are you going to give me as a reward this time?"

"You did so well. Whatever you want, you name it," Cameron promised.

Lucinda's eyes sparkled. "Really?"

Cameron nodded. "Really." Then he grinned and added, "As long as it's reasonable, of course."

Lucinda's excitement faded in a flash. Seriously? He always used to say yes to everything. Now he had to add conditions.

Garrett chuckled. Lucinda, we've spoiled you since you were little. We always try to give you everything you want. Is there anything you haven't gotten yet?"

Lucinda squeezed her hands together for a second, but her smile was bright as ever. "I'm just joking with Dad. I don't actually need

Mom, Dad, Grandpa, and rayo brothers."

anything. I just want to be net

Kylie nudged her gently. "Lucinda, don't forget your sister. You can't keep leaving her out."

Lucinda's smile froze for a split second, but then she beamed even wider and clung to Kylie's arm. "Of course, Mom. I know. But my sister's going to get married someday. Mez I'm never getting married. I want to stay with you forever."

Cameron laughed. "You silly girl. When people get older, it's normal to get married. You might not want to now, but give it a few years and you'll change your mind."

Dad, there's no one I want to marry. I just want to stay with you. Or are you saying

you don't want to take care of me anymore?"
