Joy assumed they really did have an appointment with Lydia, so she smiled politely. "Please wait here for a moment. I'll call upstairs and check if Ms. Norwood is available."

Jenson couldn't help but wonder. The receptionist kept saying Ms. Norwood. Was Miss L's real last name Norwood? He wanted to ask, but he thought better of it. The last thing they needed was to get caught in a lie.

"Thank you so much, miss. We really do have something urgent to discuss with Miss L," he said, trying to sound sincere.

Joy nodded. "Of course. I'll call right now." She picked up the phone and dialed Josef, the president's assistant. If anyone would know about Ms. Norwood's schedule, it would be him. The call connected quickly, and Joy explained the situation in a few sentences. Josef paused for a second, then replied, "Ms. Norwood is in a meeting with the design department right now. I'll check with her when she's done. Please have them wait for now."

"Thank you, Josef," Joy replied.

Jenson and Milana both perked up when they heard this. They tried not to show it, but their relief was obvious in the way they glanced at each other.

Joy led them to the reception lounge, brought over some tea and snacks, and said with a friendly smile, "Ms. Norwood is still in her meeting, so please relax here. As soon as she's free, I'll take you up to see her."

Milana was almost in disbelief at how easy this was turning out to be. Were they really about to see Miss L without any trouble?

"Thank you, sweetheart. Do you know how long her meeting usually lasts? Milana asked. She didn't mind waiting at all, but she wanted to be sure Miss L was really upstairs.

Joy thought for a second. "I'm actually not sure. Ms. Norwood just arrived at the office right before you did."

Jenson could barely hide his excitement. Their timing couldn't have been better.

"No problem at all. We know Miss L is super busy. We're happy to wait. Thank you so much. Please, don't let us keep you from your work."

Joy nodded. "Of course. If you need anything, just let me know."

"We will, thank you," Milana replied, barely containing her happiness. As soon as Joy left, she leaned in and whispered to Jenson, "If I knew it would be this easy to see Miss here, why did you waste so much time getting blocked by Ethan at LYLX? Look at how much better

we're treated here."

Jenson nodded in agreement. "Exactly. LYLX is a big company, so they act a high and mighty. Honestly, I bet this whole situation was stirred up by that jerk Ethan. Miss probably doesn't even know what's really going on with Smith Corporation."

Milana thought about it. "You're probably right. Miss L has always looked out for us. Whenever there was a big contract, she'd think of us first. Why would she suddenly freeze us out?"

The more Jenson considered it, the more certain he felt. He let out a frustrated sigh. "It must be Ethan causing trouble behind the scenes."

"If it's really him, we have to tell Miss L everything when we see her. He can't get away with this."

You're right. We're finally going to see Miss L, and this is our chance. Smith Corporation might actually have hope again."

Both of them were buzzing with excitement, like they could finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.
