chapter555
"It's just that, even though Lydia's pretty, her family background is way too poor."
In families like theirs, picking a daughter-in-law was all about status. Everything had to match up, or it just wouldn't work.
But Soren couldn't stop thinking about Lydia.
Looking at her now, with her striking looks and that body, he started to think that maybe family background didn't matter so much after all.
How had he never noticed this side of her?
All he remembered about Lydia was that she was odd and kept to herself. She always looked a little rough around the edges, dressed carelessly, barely passed her classes, and was known for getting into fights.
Back then, he'd never have felt anything for her.
But now...
"Dad, Mom, I'm just going to walk around for a bit."
Soren touched his chin, a smirk spreading across his face as he made his way toward Lydia.
"Lydia?"
Lydia had just brushed off another rich guy when she caught sight of Soren in a white suit, sauntering over with a creepy grin, calling her name like he was genuinely interested.
She rolled her eyes. This place was crawling with losers.
Lydia turned to leave, but Soren stepped right in front of her. "Lydia, let's talk."
She almost laughed. Her voice came out cold. "I don't have anything to say to you."
Soren just wouldn't quit. "How can you say that? We've had an engagement since we were kids. The Smith family kicked you out, but I don't care. As long as you stop messing around with those other guys, I can talk to my parents. Maybe I can get them to accept you into the Lane family."
Soren had heard from Sandy that after Lydia went back to the Norwoods, they were so broke she started selling herself to support her family.
If she didn't look so innocent and pure, he wouldn't have bothered.
"If you're that stupid, maybe see a doctor. Don't stand here making everyone sick."
Lydia honestly felt like Soren was so disgusting she might lose her lunch.
His face twisted in anger. He dropped his voice to a hiss. "Lydia, drop your act. Let's be real you're just a prostitute. You should be grateful I'm even interested."
Crack!
And then again. Another crack!
Before Soren could even process what was happening, Lydia's hands flew out, landing two sharp slaps across his cheeks. Each side turned redinstantly the marks perfectly matching
The crowd around them froze, stunned by the sound.
No one expected this gorgeous gir to have such a fierce side. Now it was obvious why she was frientis with
Miss Davis, who was famous for her fiery temper.
And Lydia wasn't finished.
Soren finally realized what just happened, his eyes blazing with rage as he glared at her, looking ready to explode. "Lydia! You little b-"
"Ah!"
He didn't even get the words out. Lydia kicked out, sending him flying like a rag doll.
He crashed to the ground, sprawling in a pathetic heap.
Everyone just stared.
Fierce. Wild. Cool. Unstoppable.
No one could come up with enough words to describe just how badass Lydia looked right then.
"Oh my god! Soren!"
Vivia had only glanced over when she heard the noise, but now she was running, horrified to see her son curled on the ground, looking totally wrecked.
Before Clark and Vivia could get to him, another figure pushed through the crowd, voice tight with worry. "Soren, are you okay?"
Everyone was confused. What was happening now?
Sandy rushed over, helping Soren sit up. She turned on Lydia, face twisted in anger. "Lydia! How could you do this to Soren?"
