chapter602
Of course Blake knows, Kylie said. Well, he really should have told your brothers about something this big."
Elliot just laughed to himself. Blake was unbelievable. He didn't tell them their sister was Miss L, and also hid the fact that she was actually Melody Mastro? That was crossing the line.
He gave it some thought, then decided to test the waters. "Hey, Dad, Mom, what do you think of Lorelei, that superstar singer?
Everyone looked at him, surprised by the random question. Kylie answered first. Are you kidding? I love her. Her voice is so dreamy and beautiful. I've downloaded every single one of her songs."
Lydia shot Elliot a look, half smiling, half teasing. She knew exactly what he was up to. He was trying to see if anyone at home had figured out she was actually Lorelei.
Cameron shrugged. "I don't really follow her, but your mom plays her music all the time. I have to admit, she's really good. Elliot, why are you asking about her all of a sudden?"
Kylie's eyes widened as a thought hit her. "Wait. Elliot, do you have a crush on Lorelei?"
Elliot just grinned, keeping it vague. "We met once. She's honestly a beautiful and talented girl."
Lydia stayed quiet.
Kylie nearly jumped out of her seat. "I knew it! I always said someone who can sing like that must be gorgeous, too. Elliot, do you have her number? Are you thinking about asking her out?"
Elliot looked a little disappointed. "I don't have her number yet, but I'll try to get it next time."
Kylie was all in now. "If you can make her your girlfriend, I'll give you two hundred million."
Elliot laughed. "Mom, you really think someone like her is that easy to date?"
Kylie shot right back. How do you know if you don't try? Besides, you're a pop king in Asia, aren't you? You two would be perfect together."
Elliot shook his head. "Forget it. She already has a boyfriend, so you can let go of that dream."
Lucinda, of course, knew who Lorelei was. She'd listened to her albums and her friends had even tried to get her to go to a concert a couple of years ago. Lorelei was insanely popular. But she never imagined Elliot had actually met her in person and even knew about her boyfriend.
What a shame, Kylie said with a sigh. But Elliot, if she ever breaks up, you should go for it. Don't give up."
She really was Lorelei's fan. The idea of her son marrying her favorite singer and making her part of the family was almost too good to be true.
Lydia kept quiet, holding back a smile.
Elliot just gave his mom a look. "They're happy together. Why would they break up? Let's not talk about this anymore, okay?"
Kylie pouted, feeling a little wronged. He was the one who brought it up first.
After dinner, Lydia suggested they take a walk outside. Elliot lit up at the idea. He'd been hoping she'd ask.
As they walked out into the yard side by side, Lucinda watched them go. She suddenly felt like an outsider, like she couldn't fit into this family go matter how hard she tried.
Just as Lydia and Elliot were heading toward the garden, two pulled up in front of the house.
Lucinda's best friends
and
Leila, had arrived.
They got out together and caught sight of Lydia and Elliot walking away.
Leila's eyes lit up. Paige, isn't that Elliot, Lucinda's brother?
Paige took a closer look and nodded. "Yeah, I think so."
"Who's that girl with him? They look pretty close," Leila said, her brows furrowing a little.
Leila was one of Elliot's biggest fans. She even had a secret crush on him, though to everyone else, it just looked like she was a normal fangirl.
