chapter634
But Connor just turned to Lydia. "Lydia, what do you think?"
Nathaniel almost wanted to nudge Connor and remind him where they were. This was Robinson family turf. Wasn't he worried about the Norwoods finding out he was flaunting a new girlfriend?
From what Nathaniel knew, his mom and his aunt still chatted on the down low. If his mom caught Connor cheating, she'd run straight to his aunt with the news.
Lydia gave a small nod. Yeah, that's good."
Paul, judging by the look of things, was going to need a lot more than three months to recover from this mess.
Nathaniel could hardly believe his eyes. Was Connor really this whipped? He seriously seemed to listen to his little girlfriend.
Once the guards had dragged Paul away, Nathaniel cleared his throat, trying to sound as gentle as possible. "Connor, don't get me wrong, but isn't it a bit risky bringing your girlfriend out to the movies like this? What if someone from the Norwood family does? That wouldn't look great, would it?"
Lydia just raised an eyebrow.
Elliot, who hadn't said a word this whole time, finally snapped. He yanked off his mask and shot Nathaniel a glare. "And what exactly would be so bad about the Norwoods seeing them together?"
Elliot's sudden outburst made Nathaniel jump. He blinked and stared. Yep, that was definitely Elliot.
Wait, what?
"Why are you here?" Nathaniel was honestly confused.
Elliot was Lucinda's own brother. Shouldn't he be pissed about Connor cheating on his sister? Why was he just standing here, acting like nothing was wrong?
Elliot rolled his eyes. "Your theater's open to everyone, isn't it? Why can't I be here?"
Nathaniel kept staring, then cleared his throat again. Okay, but why are you here with Connor?" What he really wanted to say was, Don't you have anything to say about Connor bringing another girl to the movies?
"We planned to watch a movie together. Is that a problem?" Elliot shot back.
Honestly, if Lydia hadn't told him to stay out of it before, he would've already decked that Paul guy.
Nathaniel was even more lost now.
"You... planned this? You all came together?"
"Yeah. Got a problem with that?" Elliot looked like he couldn't care less what Nathaniel thought.
Elliot was two years older, but since their families hardly ever crossed paths, they'd
never really acted like cousins. Maybe a nod here and there in passing, but that was
it.
"Alright, whatever. It's your family's business, not mine. Not like I could do anything about it anyway," Nathaniel said, shaking his head. He really didn't get it. Elliot had to be out of his mind, pretending not to notice his own sister's fiance cheating Why should Nathaniel care more than he did?
Elliot nodded back. "Exactly. So just mind your own business and stop embarrassing yourself running this place. All you do is hang around with these wannabe tough guys. It's pathetic."
Nathaniel's dad was a big shot in politics, but Nathaniel had no interest in that. He was planning to take over his mom's business
instead His mom wasi.ne
Nathaniel played around because, honestly, he could. But he hated when people called him fazy or useless.
"Don't think you can tell me off just because you're older. What about you? Are you actually doing anything worthwhile?"
Elliot snorted. "And who says I'm not?
"If you were, you wouldn't be here at the movies with them. Since when did the Norwood family start kissing up to the Jeffersons? That's what I call embarrassing.
Elliot bristled. "You better explain yourself right now. How am I embarrassing? And since when do the Norwoods answer to the Jeffersons?"
Nathaniel just chuckled and gave Lydia a sideways glance. "You really can't see what's going on between Connor and this girl?"
Elliot shot right back, "Are you blind? Of course I know what's going on."
Nathaniel was left completely speechless. There were just no words for this level of denial.
