Chapter 647

chapter647

Luke shook his head. "There's no one better for this than you. I just want Smith Corporation to make it. I don't need all that money. It's not for me."

He sounded so sure that Lydia could only drop it for now and save the conversation for another time.

"Have you... heard anything from her?" Luke finally asked, voice low.

He meant Sandy.

Sandy probably still had no idea that Milana and Jenson had taken the fall for everything. With Mrs. Smith still in a coma, no one could say for sure if Sandy was guilty or not. For now, she was safe.

"She's hiding out with the Lane family," came the reply.

Luke's feelings were a mess. He owed Sandy a kidney, but he'd also heard her tell Milana she wished he were dead.

Still, he couldn't deny he owed her.

"Stop worrying so much. Just get ready for school, and if anything comes up, call me," Lydia told him.

Luke nodded. "Okay."

At the Lane family's place, inside Soren's private villa, Sandy was down on the floor in a maid's uniform, scrubbing the tiles. Soren came out of the bedroom, spotted her, and scowled. Without warning, he walked over and kicked her. You are such a jinx!"

Soren had just learned that Milana and Jenson were both convicted. He was furious and scared at the same time.

Things were tense. Sandy was still a suspect and couldn't go anywhere. All Soren could do was wait for things to calm down, then try to get her share of the Smith Corporation assets.

Sandy looked a mess, but after that kick, she just got right back up on her knees. "Soren, I told you, I didn't push Grandma. She fell by herself. This has nothing to do with me. Just wait a little longer, and then I can go to Smith Corporation and get what's mine."

"Wait, wait, wait! How much longer am I supposed to wait?" Soren snapped, pacing with anger.

Sandy just had to put up with it. She had nowhere else to go.

"Soren, once the police officially charge them, I'll be in the clear."

She was just waiting for the police bulletin. If they were still after her, her name would be on that list. If not, she was safe.

Soren gave her a cold look. "You

bet

better not be lying to me. If you drag me into this I'll hand you

to the

cops myself."

Sandy tried to smile, desperate to please him. I wouldn't lie to you, Soren. I swear."

Just then, the housekeeper rushed in. "Sir, Mr. Luke Smith is here!"

Soren frowned. "Luke?"

That kid was supposed to be half dead. And now he was showing up here?

"I think so He said he's from the

Smith family, and he's looking for... her." The housekeeper pointed a Sandy like she was something disgusting.

Sandy froze, suddenly nervous. How did Luke even know she was here?

Luke sent his own parents to jail, and he was probably here to do the same to her.

"Soren, it has to be the Norwood family who sent him. Don't let him know I'm here, please."

Now Soren was panicking too.

He turned on Sandy, cursing. "Damn it, what did I do to deserve this? Get in the dog cage, now."

Lately, whenever he was in a bad mood, Soren had been making Sandy sleep in a dog cage at night.

At least the cage was big enough for two people her size.

Sandy was terrified. She scrambled off the floor and ran to the room where the cage was kept.

Soren took a deep breath, pulled himself together, and went outside.

Standing at the front gate was a tall,

thin figure. His good looks were there but his face was pale

sickly. t

It was Luke, no mistake.

and

"Luke, shouldn't you be in the hospital? What are you doing here?"
