chapter663
Paige nodded. "We're all set. What took you so long today?"
Lucinda rushed to answer, before Kylie or Cameron could mention dropping Lydia off first. The traffic was a nightmare. Which dorms did you two get into?"
Paige shrugged. "Not together, unfortunately."
"That's okay. At least we're all at the same school."
"Lucinda, you should go get your registration done. We're going to check out our rooms."
Lucinda let out a quiet sigh of relief. "Alright."
Paige and Leila waved to Kylie and Cameron, then headed off to find their dorm building.
On the way, Leila leaned in and whispered, "Do you think Lucinda ever told Cameron or Kylie about that goddaughter of theirs trying to hook up with Connor?"
Paige shook her head. "She never replied to my message that day. I didn't want to push it and make her feel worse. But, she seems fine today."
Leila sighed. "Well, her fianc is Connor. Some things you just can't avoid."
Lucinda finished registering and made her way to the dorm. Since she arrived late, her three other roommates were already there. Their beds were made, and they were busy unpacking when Lucinda walked in.
Since men weren't allowed in the girls' dorm, it took the dorm supervisor and a few student volunteers two trips to haul all of Lucinda's luggage inside. When her roommates saw the pile of bags and suitcases blocking the hallway, they just stared, completely stunned. The room was tiny. How could one person bring so much stuff? It was almost ridiculous.
Kylie gave them an apologetic smile. "Sorry, we might have, um, overpacked a little."
Lucinda immediately knelt down and opened one of the suitcases. It was filled with luxury skincare products and fancy accessories. She brought qut a few sets and handed them to the dorm supervisor and the student volunteers who had helped with her bags. They tried to decline, but Lucinda was so friendly and insistent that they finally accepted.
Once the staff and volunteers left, Lucinda took out three more elegant gift boxes. "It I'm Lucinda Norwood. I'm really happy to be your roommate. I got you each a little something. Hope you'll like it."
She offered the boxes to her three new roommates. It took them a moment to realize what was happening. Lucinda was the
daughter of the richest man in the country. All three of them hurried to refuse the gifts. They'd just met. How could they accept something so expensive?
A quick peek inside revealed designer handbags, probably LV, each worth a fortune. None of them were poor, but this was something else. What girl didn't want a beautiful designer bag?
"Don't be shy," Lucinda said, still smiling. "We're going to be living together. Just take them."
Kylie chimed in, Lucinda picked these out just for you. It's fate you ended up together. It's just a little welcome gift."
Finally, the three girls accepted, their faces lighting up with delight. Inside, they were thinking, I can't believe I'm sharing a room with a billionaire's daughter. This is unreal.
Lucinda turned to Kylie. "Mom, Dad's still waiting for you outside, and it's getting really hot. You should go. I can handle the rest."
Her three roommates joined in politely. "She's right, Mrs. Norwood. We'll help Lucinda get settled. Don't keep Mr. Norwood waiting."
After Kylie left, the girls immediately started gushing over Lucinda.
Hannah sighed. Lucinda, I'm so jealous. Your parents are so sweet. Mine are always working. They didn't even have time to bring me to campus.
Evelyn added, "Seriously, you're so lucky. Your parents clearly adore you. Mine only care about my little brother."
Mia grinned at Lucinda, her eyes sparkling. "Hey, rumor has it your fianc is Connor Jefferson. Did he come drop you off today?"
