chapter817
It would have felt pretty awkward otherwise.
Lydia just smiled. "No worries, there's another car."
"Huh? Another car?"
Lydia nodded. "Yep."
Once they stepped out of the school gates and rounded the corner, Fiona and Monica spotted a line of cars waiting by the curb. What really caught their attention was the car at the front-a Rolls-Royce. And not just any Rolls-Royce. If they were seeing right, it was a super rare, limited edition. Only three of them existed in the whole world.
Aiden rolled down his window and called out to the driver of the Rolls-Royce. "Go pick up Luke."
"Yes, sir."
Fiona and Monica stared, totally stunned. Were all these people here because of Lydia's boyfriend? Who exactly was he? They both wanted to ask, but neither dared to say a word.
They all headed out to pick up Luke. Just as they were on their way, Lydia's phone rang. It was Juna.
"Lydia, want to hit up a bar tonight? It's been ages. I'm losing my mind at school, I need to check out some cute guys. What do you think, you free?"
The air in the car instantly turned icy. Fiona honestly felt like the temperature had just dropped.
Sure enough, Connor spoke up, his voice cold and sharp. She's not free."
He sounded like he was about to grind his teeth into dust.
On the other end, Juna's heart skipped a beat. She slapped a hand over her mouth to keep from squealing out loud.
"Oh, Connor's there? Haha, I was just joking. Babe, if you're busy, don't worry about it."
Juna was about to hang up, but Lydia spoke up. If you're bored, come have dinner with us."
Juna paused for only a second before she agreed. "Okay!"
When they arrived at the Grand Imperial Hotel's VIP room, Fiona and Monica were floored. This place was next level. They'd been to the Grand Imperial before, but never to the VIP lounge you needed a membership Just to get in and reservations had to be made way in advance. Only people with serious money or status came here.
They had barely sat down when Juna walked in, looking totally upbeat. Spotting two new faces, she raised her eyebrows and grinned. "Lydia, who are these two?"
"My new friends," Lydia said. "Fiona and Monica."
Juna gave them a warm smile. "Hey, I'm Juna."
Fiona and Monica just stared for a second. Juna? As in Juna from the Davis family?
Was it really her? What kind of people did Lydia hang out with?
Juna already knew Luke. She walked over and gave his shoulder a friendly pat. "Luke, looking cute as always."
Luke grinned. "Thanks, Juna. You look great too."
Juna laughed. "You're such a smooth talker."
Lydia hadn't even had time to introduce Luke yet. Luke, this is Fiona and Monica."
Luke nodded politely. "Hi, I'm Luke Smith. Nice to meet you."
The girls stared at him, totally shocked.
"You... you're Luke? Isn't your sister Sandy?" Monica blurted out, then clapped her hand over her mouth, mortified.
The whole table fell quiet. Monica wanted to disappear. Why did she have to say that? She was just so surprised that Lydia was so nice to Sandy's brother, especially since Sandy was always picking on her:
Luke's expression froze for a split second, but then he smiled. Sandy is my biological sister, but in my heart, I only have one real sister."
He looked at Lydia.
"I'm so sorry, Luke. That was out of line," Monica whispered, wishing she could crawl under the table.
"It's all right."
Juna noticed the mood had gotten
heavy, so she jumped in with a laugh. "Okay, enough about Sandy Let me tell you, Lucinda is all anyone can talk about at Capital College right now. Everyone's acting like she's some heiress beautiful, smart, kind, always helping people. Please. She's just a fake rich girl who doesn't know how to keep her head down. She's so loud and phony every single day, I can't stand it!"
