chapter827
Melody Mastro was a total mystery too, only ever showing up at international piano events. Now suddenly, Elliot had Lorelei joining his concert and a brand-new score from Melody Mastro in hand. Leo had always thought it was just his own charm pulling strings, but who would've guessed... Lorelei and Melody Mastro was actually his little sister.
Talk about a huge win. Just thinking about it made his heart race. He definitely needed to stick close to Lydia now. From here on out, Elliot would be the only one in the music scene who could get Lorelei and Melody to perform. That idea alone was enough to make anyone jealous.
Lydia, Elliot, wait for me!" Leo called out, already putting Lydia ahead of even Elliot in his mind.
The three of them headed downstairs together. As soon as they stepped outside, a sweet, familiar voice rang out. Elliot, Lydia!"
Elliot and Lydia both froze. They looked up to see Lucinda waving energetically, her whole face lighting up as she ran over.
"Elliot, Lydia, I've been waiting for you two. You must be starving. I booked us a table at the buffet next door. Let's go, okay?"
Lydia didn't even react. She just stared straight ahead like Lucinda didn't exist.
Elliot frowned. "Didn't I tell you to go home?"
Lucinda's smile dropped instantly, her face falling into a wounded little pout. Her voice came out all shaky. "I know you're both still mad at me. I'm sorry. It's all my fault before. I just want us to be a real family again, like Grandpa and Mom and Dad always wanted."
Elliot let out a sigh. "Lucinda, if you were the one who got hurt, would you really forgive someone just because they said sorry like it was nothing?"
He knew exactly what Lucinda was like. Growing up, if anyone ever crossed her, she'd cut them off for good And after what she did
Lydia did str
really
really think a
apology would fix it all? That was just wishful thinking. Lydia had already said she wouldn't forgive
her.
Tears welled
in Lucinda's eyes.
"Elliot, I get it. Lydia is still upset and
doesn't want to forgive me. I
understand just wanted to try and Wanted to try and make things better, to be a family again. That's why I made the
reservation and waited for you. I'm
not trying to force anything."
Lydia didn't even bother looking at her. "Sorry, Lucinda, but I can't afford to eat
anything you pay for. Who knows if you've poisoned it."
No one knew better than Lydia how much Lucinda hated her. Lucinda only tried to show some niness because she wanted to stay in the Norwood family.
The only reason Lydia was putting up with all this was to keep tabs on Lucinda, and through her, Grace and Night Eagle. If it weren't for that, she could easily get Lucinda kicked out the Norwood family a hundred different ways.
Lucinda looked stunned, like she'd been slapped in the face. She'd never expected Lydia to be so blunt, or so cruel.
Her voice got even smaller. "Lydia, can you please not be so hard on me? I really just wanted us to have a nice meal together."
Seeing how tense things were getting, Leo jumped in right away. Hey, Lucinda, I actually made a reservation at that same buffet too. Why don't you just cancel yours? We can all go together, how about that?"
