chapter868
Lucinda's annoyance was obvious. She felt Lydia only thought about herself, not bothering to invite the rest of them. Blake glanced at her. Lydia was the main guest at Elliot's concert. He probably just invited her, her manager, and their team. It wouldn't really make sense for us to go."
Garrett nodded. Exactly, Lucinda. If you want Elliot to treat us to dinner, we can just ask him tomorrow. There's always next time."
But it wasn't really about the dinner. Lucinda was actually furious about Elliot's attitude. He was playing favorites, plain and simple. She could barely force herself to eat anything and soon went upstairs alone.
Blake watched her walk away, frowning. "Lucinda's got a lot weighing on her."
Garrett agreed. "She probably hasn't gotten over everything that happened before. It still gets to her."
Cameron looked frustrated. "It's all because of Grace's influence. Lucinda's not a bad person, really. Now that Grace isn't here, she's just having trouble adjusting."
That got Garrett thinking. "By the way, when did things start up between Lucinda and Caspian? I only heard about it yesterday. It seemed to come out of nowhere."
Kylie thought for a moment. "Caspian's always been good to Lucinda. He's had a crush on her for years. Now that Lydia's back and Lucinda's engagement with Connor is off, Caspian finally got the courage to go after her. Lucinda says he treats her well, so she wants to give it a shot.
Blake looked thoughtful. "I just hope she really wants to be with Caspian."
Cameron turned to him. What are you getting at, Blake?"
Blake just shrugged. "Nothing. If she wants to try, then she should."
Garrett picked up on Blake's hesitation. He had his own suspicions, but without proof, he kept quiet. Better to wait and see if Lucinda was really serious about Caspian.
Upstairs, Lucinda was fuming. She couldn't risk breaking anything, so she grabbed a stuffed animal and started whacking it as hard as she could. In her mind, the toy was Lydia, and she let all her anger out on it.
Her phone started ringing. It was a video call from Grace. Seeing her name made Lucinda's frustration bubble up even more. Tears picked her eyes as she answered, slipping further into her bedroom so no one passing by would hear.
"Grace..." Her voice broke.
Grace sat in her tiny apartment, having just seen all the gossip online. The more she read, the more convinced she became that Lorelei was actually Lydia, so she reached out to Lucinda for answers. She hadn't expected to see Lucinda looking so hurt on the call. Grace had raised this girl since she was little. Now they were apart, and all she could do was watch as Lucinda suffered at the Norwood house. Her heart was in agony.
"Lucinda, what happened? Are those people at the Norwoods giving you a hard time again?"
As soon as Grace said that, Lucinda's frustration spilled over. "Grace, it's so unfair. Everyone always takes Lydia's side. She gets away with things I never could. Why is it always like this?"
Grace was fuming. It's always Lydia. Their plan had been changed again and again because of her.
"Lucinda, it's okay. Trust me. I'll teach her some lesson. I'm gonna make her give everything back to you. You grew up in the Norwood family. So what if she's their real daughter?"
