chapter879
"Of course, Miss Nor... I mean, Lydia."
It was almost eleven by the time they finally left the lab. Earlier, they'd pored over Lydia's drafts and were left completely speechless. Miracle Hands wasn't just a name, it was the real deal.
Desmond, who was second only to Kevin in age, stepped outside, took in the clear night sky, and couldn't help but sigh. "Kevin, you're lucky to have such a gifted student."
He sounded just a bit envious.
Kevin grinned. She's just too modest. Won't even let me brag about her in front of others."
"She's smart to stay low-key. With her talent, she'd never have a quiet life otherwise."
After sharing their thoughts, someone turned to Garrett. "The Norwood genes really are something else. Mr. Norwood, when you get married, you'd better have enough kids for a whole soccer team."
"That's right. The country needs talent like yours. Don't let those genes go to waste."
"Seriously, your sister Lucinda must be pretty extraordinary too. What's her major? Was she always this gifted?"
Desmond was clearly hoping to find a genius student of his own. With the Norwood family's genes, he figured it was worth a shot if he ever got the chance.
But Garrett shook his head. Lucinda isn't actually my biological sister. She and Lydia were switched at birth. We only found out this year, and Lydia just came back to the family."
Lucinda's grades weren't bad, but even with all the money spent on her, she just didn't have that spark. Compared to Lydia, the difference was obvious.
So that was it. They all remembered the Norwoods only had one daughter, Lucinda.
Kevin laughed. "It's all fate. If Lydia
had grom
up in the Capital, maybe
I'd neve
have gotten to take her on
as my student. Honestly, everything worked out for the best
Just then, Yara came out of the building. She spotted Kevin and the others, all looking important as they stood by the door to the special lab. She guessed they were big shots. She could have walked another way, but instead, she headed right for them. The group noticed her coming and paused their conversation.
Yara smiled and greeted Kevin politely. Grandpa Kevin, you're still up so late?"
As she got closer, she noticed a tall,
elegant figure among the men. When she saw his face, it felt like
she'd stumbled onto the leadin
man from a novel-handsome, cool, and a little mysterious. His features were sharp, his dark eyes so capitivating it was hard to look
dark features
away. He had a kind of quiet,
dazzling presence that made her
heart skip a beat.
Yara could practically hear her own heartbeat. She couldn't tear her gaze from Garrett.
Kevin smiled at her. "A few of the medical research fellows came to tour our campus. I'm just showing them around tonight."
Yara snapped out of it, blushing as she hurried to look away from Garrett. Her heart
was racing. She managed to reply, "I'll let you get back to it then."
As Yara rushed off, Richard laughed. "Mr. Norwood never fails to catch the girls' attention, wherever he goes."
Garrett smiled, a bit embarrassed. "Come on, don't tease me. Right now, I just want to focus on work."
