Chapter 122

chapter122

The following morning, Thalassa arrived at the Sinclair Group with a renewed sense of purpose. Before she could begin her rounds, Director Noreen summoned her into the office. The usual sternness in Noreen’s expression had been replaced by a carefully maintained, apologetic smile.

“Thalassa, I must address the recent events with transparency,” Noreen began, her tone formal yet sincere. “A thorough internal review has confirmed that the allegations made against you were entirely fabricated. Joie’s statements were a deliberate misdirection to obscure her own involvement. You have been fully exonerated.”

Thalassa absorbed the news with a quiet nod. She understood that even in the wake of Joie’s departure, the echoes of the frame-up had required professional deconstruction. She wasn't one to harbor resentment against her superiors for past misunderstandings, especially since Noreen was now taking active steps to rectify the record.

“I appreciate the clarification, Director,” Thalassa replied evenly. “It is vital for a team’s morale that the truth remains the priority over hearsay.”

Noreen straightened her blazer, nodding in agreement. “Indeed. However, the impetus for this swift resolution came from the top. Mr. Sinclair demonstrated exceptional insight and impartiality. This morning, he authorized a company-wide memorandum clarifying the situation and clearing your professional name. Everyone now knows that you acted with absolute integrity.”

Thalassa was momentarily taken aback. “Mr. Sinclair addressed this personally?”

“It was sent via David’s office, but it carries the President’s direct authority,” Noreen explained. “It’s a rare gesture. It seems the internal breach involving Faye and the leaked designs accelerated his need for total transparency.”

Faye’s dismissal and subsequent legal accountability were now common knowledge in the building. While Noreen seemed inclined to distance herself from the former secretary’s actions, Thalassa remained focused on the work at hand, declining to engage in office gossip.

“I understand, Director. I should get back to my duties,” Thalassa said, excusing herself.

As she sanitized the executive meeting rooms, Thalassa reflected on Lysander’s actions. His intervention had been efficient and undeniably fair. Yet, a question lingered: if he had always been certain of her innocence regarding the leaked plans, why the detour through the police station? Was it a test of her resilience, or a strategic move in a larger game she didn't yet understand?

Her reflections were interrupted by a call from Noreen. With Faye’s position currently vacant, Thalassa was asked to assist with executive hospitality for an ongoing high-level meeting in the President’s suite.

When she entered the office, the atmosphere was thick with the silent tension of a high-stakes negotiation.

Lysander sat on the sofa, his presence commanding and silent, a sharp contrast to the morning sun hitting the glass towers outside. David stood to his right, his expression a mask of professional vigilance as he monitored the two guests seated opposite them.

The guests appeared eager, nodding frequently as they reviewed documents. One was a lean, unfamiliar man in a sharp suit. The other was a larger man whose features struck a distant chord of recognition in Thalassa’s mind. She couldn't immediately place him, but his presence stirred a flicker of unease—a feeling that their paths had crossed in a life far removed from the polished floors of the Sinclair Group.
