Chapter 352

chapter352

The mention of Thalassa sent a jolt of nerves through Hertha. “Thalassa is at the Sinclair Group,” she countered quickly. “This is about a former classmate—Debby. She’s found herself in a situation she can’t navigate alone.”

Alaric remained skeptical. He wasn't the type to be swayed by a dramatic story without verification. He spent a few seconds sending a discreet message to his team, his expression darkening as he reviewed the response.

“What did you find?” Hertha asked, her heart racing.

“My assistant confirms that a woman named Debby is currently involved with a figure known for his... aggressive negotiation tactics,” Alaric said, though his eyes remained fixed on Hertha. “It seems your story has a basis in reality.”

Hertha let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. She didn't particularly care for Debby—who had always been a source of conflict—but the name had served its purpose. All that mattered was getting Thalassa out of that room.

“So, how do we proceed?” Hertha asked. “Since you’re the one with the 'intelligence,' I assumed you’d have a strategy.”

Alaric leaned against the wall, his gaze analytical. “You asked for my help, yet you’re delegating the brainstorming to me? I thought you were the one who ‘knew her best.’”

Hertha felt a surge of indignation. “I’m focusing on the logistics on the ground. You have the presence to walk up to those guards and make them believe they have a more pressing issue elsewhere.”

Alaric considered her for a moment, his impatience softening slightly at her fierce protectiveness for her friend. “Lean in,” he instructed, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper.

Hertha moved closer, her pulse quickening as she listened to his plan. It was elegant, professional, and relied entirely on his status to create a plausible diversion. As he outlined the steps, Hertha realized that despite his cold exterior, Alaric was a man who understood the value of a well-executed rescue.

“Five minutes,” Alaric concluded, his gaze locking onto hers. “That’s the window I’m giving you. Make sure your friend is ready to move the moment the path is clear.”
