chapter1031
As for that sensational livestream last night...
Their son was fighting for his life in the ICU. How could they possibly waste a moment on something as trivial as a livestream?
To Westerners, East Asian faces often blur together, making it easy to mistake one for another.
So, despite having no trouble appreciating beauty, when they saw Stella-striking as ever-and heard her introduce herself as someone coming to apologize, it was only natural they assumed she was Aurora.
Stella glanced at the two men, a faint crease appearing between her brows.
"Gentlemen, you've got it wrong. I'm not Aurora "
But before she could finish, the oil tycoon cut her off with a furious roar.
"I don't care who you are among your own people. My son is in critical condition because of you, and there's no way we're letting you walk away from this!"
The financier fixed Stella with a cold glare. "From what I've heard, you crashed into my son's car on purpose. You planned this-you wanted my son dead, didn't you?"
Stella met their accusations head-on. "You're both mistaken. That night, I was being chased for miles-everyone knows that. I could barely protect myself; how on earth could I have plotted to kill your sons?"
The oil tycoon let out a cold laugh. "There were plenty of cars you could've hit, but you crashed into my son's? And we all heard what you said during that livestream. You did this deliberately!"
His anger mounted with every word, but he held himself in check-if only because Skyler was present.
Instead, he turned to Skyler. "Skyler, you tell us how are you going to settle this? If you don't give us a solution we can accept, don't blame us for embarrassing the Williams family!"
Skyler pressed his fingers to his aching forehead, then looked at Stella. "Stella, just apologize to these gentlemen..."
The financier Interrupted him
sharply. "What good is an apology to us? She should be at the hospital,
begging my son for forgivene
Ever since the accident, your daughter hasn't even shown her face-does she even feel a shred of remorse?"
Skyler tried to mediate, but Stella's voice rang out, clear and unwavering.
"Gentlemen, call you uncle' out of respect for my father, but that doesn't give you the right to slander me. Yes, maybe I said a few careless words to my assistant that night, but the truth is, it wasn't us who crashed into your sons. It was the car chasing us. I had nothing to do with it, and I refuse to apologize for something I didn't do."
The oil tycoon and the financier were barely restraining themselves, holding back only out of respect for Skyler. Their sons were clinging to life, and yet Stella stood there, cool as ever, refusing to bend.
The oil tycoon, never known for his patience, finally snapped. His rage boiled over as he pulled a gun from inside his jacket, flicked off the safety, and aimed straight at Stella.
Skyler's face blanched. He leapt forward to intervene, but Joshua, silent until now, moved first. In a flash, he gripped the tycoon's arm, twisting it back so the gun pointed at its owner.
The tycoon froze, startled, before the young man flashed a sly, wicked grin. Keeping the tycoon's hand steady, Joshua squeezed the trigger.
Bang!
The shot rang out, and the bullet tore through the oil tycoon's leg.
He howled in agony, collapsing to the floor.
For a long moment, everyone stood frozen in shock, unable to process what had just happened.
Everyone except Stella, who stood tall and unflinching, a faint, enigmatic smile playing at the corners of her lips.
