chapter1308
After what felt like a lifetime, the doors to the operating room opened. A weary Mr. Burton emerged.
Stella, Harold, and Jake rushed forward. "Mr. Burton, how is he?"
Mr. Burton managed a tired smile. "The kid has a strong will to live, and he's in excellent physical condition. He's out of immediate danger for now."
The three of them let out a collective sigh of relief. Content originally comes from Find1Novel.net
"However," Mr. Burton added, his tone turning serious, "he lost a lot of blood, has severe internal injuries, a gunshot wound to the leg, and significant burns. The blast did the most damage. Surviving the surgery is just the first step. We still need to watch for complications."
"With you here, Mr. Burton, we know he'll be fine," Harold said gratefully.
Mr. Burton waved him off. "Don't flatter me. I did this for Stella. If anyone else had come calling, I wouldn't have bothered."
"You're right, sir," Jake said quickly.
"He'll be in the ICU for a few days for observation," Mr. Burton continued. "If his condition remains stable, we'll move him to a regular room." He gave them a few more instructions before leaving to work on Joshua's recovery plan.
Joshua was wheeled out, his eyes closed, his face peaceful as if he were only sleeping. Seeing him like this, a wave of pain washed over Stella. He had done this for her and Keen. She couldn't bear to think what would have happened if he hadn't made it. Since her return to the family, he had been her constant support. Without Joshua, she wouldn't be where she was today.
He was taken to the ICU, where they could only watch him from behind a glass window.
"Ms. Cameron," Harold said gently, "Jake and I will stay here. You
should get some test. You can come back and take care of him when he's moved to a regular room."
Stella thought of Keen and nodded. "Alright. Call me the moment he wakes up."
As she turned to leave, she ran into the Williams family, who had apparently just received the news.
Israel greeted her with a sneer. "Well,
well. Leaving your own son to lie
alone in a hospital bed while you
stand guard over your little pet. I guess we know who's more

Skyler, Jonathan, Israel, and Aurora were all there; only Coleman was upstairs with Keen. Stella's eyes narrowed. Something was wrong.
Just then, Haynes, who had been gone for some time, appeared at the other end
of the hall. He walked to Stella's side, his expression grim.
"Star, Gibson is dead."
Stella's face fell. "What? How?"
Haynes's gaze swept over the Williams family members. "You'll have to ask them.
He killed himself right after they interrogated him."
Israel shot Haynes a contemptuous
look. "Haynes, you were always a poor judge of character with Rachel, but this is a new low. Your ex-wife and her pretty boy nearly got your son killed, and you're still treating them like saviors? How did a fool like you ever become Pr sident of the O'Brien Group?"
