chapter1790
A few days later, Stella and Joshua went to the airport to pick up Keen. Haynes was with them.
This time, Keen hadn't been brought by Haynes's sister, but by his assistant, Benson.
It had been a while since Keen had seen Stella, and he missed her dearly. He had asked to visit her many times, but since Stella had been missing during that period, Haynes had to keep it from him.
Marvin Connolly was also in Solmaris and had seen Stella a few times since her return, but Keen, being so far away, hadn't had the chance.
Now that Joshua's condition had stabilized, Stella agreed to let Keen come over.
At the airport, the moment Keen saw Stella, he sprinted toward her and threw his arms around her in a tight hug.
"Mom, I missed you so much!"
Stella hugged him back with a smile. "Mom missed you too."
After expressing his feelings, Keen turned to look at Joshua.
"Mr. Joshua."
Joshua ruffled Keen's hair. "Good to see you, Keen."
Keen already knew that Stella and Mr. Joshua were together and showed no signs of resistance or difficulty accepting it.
After greeting Stella and Joshua, Keen finally looked at Haynes.
"Dad."
Haynes was long accustomed to this sequence. He responded with a simple, "Let's go."
Stella had a meeting to attend and couldn't get away, so she had to bring Keen back to the company first. Haynes took the opportunity to accompany Keen to The Williams Group.
Stella only stayed in her office for a short while before heading to her meeting. Unsurprisingly, Joshua went with her.
Back when Joshua was just Stella's bodyguard, there were some meetings he couldn't attend. But ever since Stella's kidnapping, Joshua went almost everywhere she did. Even for occasions where his presence was inconvenient, Stella let it slide, more than she normally would. Fortunately, Stella's position at The Williams Group was now secure, and with Joshua's special status, no one dared to say anything.
In the office, Abby Murphy placed Keen's favorite fruits and snacks in front of him.
"Keen, have something to eat. We'll get you some lunch after Star is done with her work."
Keen obediently agreed.
Abby then turned to Haynes. "Is Keen going back with you tonight or with Star?"
"He's coming with me," Haynes replied.
Abby raised her eyebrows in surprise. She didn't mince her words. "I thought you'd send Keen over to Star's place to interfere with her and Joshua."
Haynes was speechless for a moment before saying, "Would that even work?"
"Of course not," Abby said.
"So why would I do something so obnoxious?" Haynes retorted.
Hearing this, Abby looked at Haynes with a new perspective.
"Wow, if you'd had this kind of self-awareness back then, Mr. O'Brien, maybe you two wouldn't have gotten divorced."
Speaking of which, Abby thought of Rachel Pearce.
"By the way, what about Rachel? Is she still with you?"
"No," Haynes said. "I sent her to Jasper Wilkinson."
Abby mulled it over for a few seconds, as if remembering something. "Jasper... I seem to
recall that The Wilkinson Group was taken down by Leonard right?
Haynes nodded.
"Didn't you help out your good friend?" Abby asked.
"As his friend, I've already done more than enough for him. I've done right by him. He's a grown man. He needs to take responsibility for his own actions
With nothing better to do, Abby started gossiping with Haynes.
"The Wilkinson Group went bankrupt, and Jasper went from a rich kid to being broke. Would Rachet really be willing to stay him? Can she handle that kind of hardship?"
