chapter1897
Marvin was a tough kid; he rarely ever cried.
Hearing his tearful voice, Stella immediately asked, "Marvin, what's wrong? Did something happen?"
Marvin sniffled, his tone utterly heartbroken. "Stella, I think they're going to take me away. And if they do, I might never get to see you again..."
Stella's voice dropped. "Take you away? Take you where?"
"I don't know," Marvin cried. "A bunch of strangers have been showing up at the house lately. They said my dad isn't my real dad, and that they're my biological father's family. They said they want to take me back to my 'real' home.
Dad doesn't want me to go, so those people just keep coming to the house every single day to harass him..."
He choked back a sob.
"I don't want to go, but I don't want to cause trouble for Dad either. If he really isn't my real dad, then I guess I should just go with them."
Stella's eye twitched.
His biological father's family... wouldn't that be the Gardners?
After all these years, why would the Gardners suddenly show up on their doorstep demanding the child?
"Marvin, don't cry," Stella said quickly. "I'm coming over right now."
Worried that the other side might have brought a small army, Stella deliberately
called Wilbur and Gideon, instructing them to bring along a group of highly trained bodyguards.
As her status within The Williams Group had skyrocketed, so had her personal power and influence.
Moreover, Solmaris was firmly under the Williams family's control. In this city, she carried far more weight than Neville ever could.
Neville had gone out of his way to help her in the past; it was high time she returned the favor.
Stella and her men quickly arrived at the Connolly residence.
She had expected to find a group of thugs trying to drag Marvin away by force. However, when she took in the scene at the front door, she was completely stunned. The person trying to take Marvin wasn't a mob of enforcers, but an elderly woman. Supported by her adult children, she stood by the entrance.
She wasn't throwing her weight around or acting arrogant; instead, she was pleading bitterly.
"Marvin is my own flesh and blood, my biological grandson. He carries the Gardner family name. Mr. Connolly, please, just let us take him home.
The Gardners are the wealthiest family in the world, and Quincy left a massive inheritance solely for Marvin.
If he comes back to us, when he grows up, he'll have every right to compete for the position of the head of the family...
"Mr. Connolly, when Elaine was still alive, we treated her wonderfully. She never suffered a single day under our roof.
Our specific branch of the family has no one left but Marvin. He is our only surviving heir, please, I'm begging you, give him back to us."
Stella frowned slightly.
She quickly realized that this elderly woman was likely Marvin's biological grandmother a true-blooded Gardner.
She had no idea how the woman had gotten wind of this, but here she was, showing up in person to claim the boy.
The front doors of the Connolly estate remained tightly shut. No one came out.
Stella had learned from Marvin that this old woman had been showing up every day, crying and pouring her heart out on their doorstep.
She hadn't taken any extreme measures. Even when she was turned away, she never tried to force her way inside.
Given the woman's advanced age, Neville's character wouldn't allow him to resort to violence to renove her

ongoing stalemate. fo
If the opposing side had tried to use muscle, Stella would have gladly matched it.
But facing an elderly grandmother
who had already suffered the
heartbreak of outliving her own child,
Stella found she couldn't bring
herself to play hardball
Furthermore, she couldn't be entirely certain if this woman was actually affiliated
with the Gardner family.
With that in mind, Stella dialed Joshua's number.
"Joshua, are you busy right now?
Can you make a trip down to the Connolly house? There's a woman here claiming to be Marvin's grandmother and she's trying to take him away."
Hearing the urgency, Joshua immediately said he was on his way.
About half an hour later, Joshua pulled up.
