chapter1002
As Calliope spoke, she cast a glance at the gathered team of doctors. Every one of
them looked genuinely elated. After spending countless hours with her in the operating room, they'd learned so much their hearts were brimming with
admiration and gratitude.
They couldn't get over Calliope's generosity. She held nothing back, teaching them with the patient care of a mentor guiding her own apprentices. They'd assumed she'd keep her methods to herself, maybe let them observe, but never actually explain what she was doing. And yet, she had willingly shared her expertise. Even though they struggled to grasp it all at once, they managed to pick up a number of invaluable insights. She'd even promised to share her detailed case findings with them once she returned.
Doctors like her were a dying breed. She specialized in holistic medicine, but showed no prejudice against their own Western approach if anything, she was happy to share what she knew. Every member of the team was deeply moved.
"Let us handle things from here!" one of the doctors called out.
"Thank you for everything, Miracle Doctor! We learned so much from you!" another echoed.
"Yes, you must be exhausted after such a long surgery. You deserve a proper rest!" Gratefully, their eyes followed Calliope as she prepared to go.
"You've done more than enough," Silas said quietly as he reached out and gently tousled her hair. I'll have someone drive you home. Get some rest, okay? I've still got a few things to take care of here, so I won't be back right away."
Calliope nodded. She didn't press him with questions she hadn't even asked about the patient's condition, nor did she know the young woman's name. She understood there was no point; Silas wasn't in the mindset to discuss it just yet. She suspected he wouldn't have room in his heart for anything else until the girl recovered fully. So she chose to give him time.
Eyes lowered, Calliope quietly accepted it all. She was due to leave on another business trip soon anyway.
She slipped away a moment later.
Once Calliope was gone, the doctors crowded in around Silas, visibly buzzing with excitement as they began praising her one after another.
"Mr. Myers, your wife is amazing! She's not just brilliant, but incredibly generous she held nothing back!"
"She answered every question we had, and even offered to organize notes for us!" "You're really lucky, Mr. Myers, to have such an incredible wife!"
"You better treat her well!"
"Seriously, the Miracle Doctor has more than earned her reputation. There's no one else like her."
"Someone that talented is a rare find in this world!"
"She's a genius!"
"More than a genius, honestly!"
Voices overlapped as they argued playfully, each trying to outdo the last in their praise. Calliope brilliant yet humble, had left a deep impression-people like her were vanishingly rare.
"She's always been remarkable-and so compassionate," Silas replied pride shining in his eyes. "She's the love of my life, my one and only. She's truly unique. Having her is the greatest blessing 1 could imagine"
No one doubted how proud he was, how fiercely he loved his wife. And yet...
A shadow clouded his face as his thoughts wandered. His own time was running out, and he didn't know how much longer he'd be able to stay by herside He desperately wanted to protect her forever, to be with her for a lifetime and beyond-but that wasn't possible. Not after the promise he'd made, all for her sake...
Silas let out a quiet sigh.
He still had no idea how to tell her the truth.
