Chapter 262

chapter262

At this point, the girl had basically gone through a full-body blood change. Lydia wanted to give it one more try, and he didn't refuse. He figured they could look together a little longer. If they still couldn't find the damaged artery, then they'd move straight to opening the skull.

Dr. Donley, who'd been helping out, was watching them with his heart pounding. He never imagined that, in a situation this dire, these two would still be so patient, carefully searching for the torn artery. One wrong move and the patient could flatline right there on the table.

After what felt like forever, Garrett was just about to suggest the craniotomy again when Lydia suddenly let out a relieved sigh.

"Found it."

For a second, the whole room froze. Then everyone burst into excitement. They had all thought the girl was just holding on by sheer willpower. No one expected she would actually find it. It was unbelievable. If it had been any of them, they would've gone for the craniotomy long ago.

Garrett looked at Lydia differently now, like he'd finally found someone who could keep up with him. There was so much he wanted to say to her, but this wasn't the time. All he could do was focus on helping her repair the artery, stitching it together with steady hands, making sure the blood would flow like it should.

From there, the rest of the surgery went smoothly. Lydia and Garrett fixed the artery, restored normal blood flow, and carefully stitched and bandaged the area to help it heal and keep out infection. The two of them worked with such skill, focus, and calm that it was almost unreal. Together, they saved a life.

Dr. Donley had never seen such a complex surgery pulled off so perfectly. He followed Lydia out of the operating room, still in awe. Excuse me," he asked, trying to sound casual but failing to hide his admiration, "may I ask which hospital you work at?"

Lydia paused for a second. I don't have a fixed place," she said.

Dr. Donley's eyes lit up. "Would you consider joining us at Mercy Hospital? I can talk

to the director and get you a salary three times higher than anyone else's."

Getting a medical genius like her would be a huge win for their hospital.

Lydia gave a small smile. Thank you, but I still have to go to school."

Dr. Donley looked crushed for a moment, but then perked up again. "Well, when you graduate, would you think about us?"

"I'm just starting my first year," Lydia replied. The message was clear. It was going to be a while.

Dr. Donley could only nod. "Alright. Then, would you mind if I have your number? In case I have questions in the future."

"Sure," Lydia said. She didn't usually

share her contact so easily, but today Dr. Donley had been generous with the OR and had helped in every way hecould. Without him, they wouldn't have saved the patient so smoothly.

Dr. Donley was practically giddy as he saved Lydia's number. Garrett cleared his throat, trying to sound casual but obviously fishing. Um, can I have your number too?"

Usually, people begged to add Garrett, not the other way around. He'd never asked a girl for her contact info before But Lydia was just that impressive. He wanted the chance to talk more, maybe learn from her.

Lydia nodded. "Okay."

Garrett had barely finished adding her when his phone lit up with a call from 'Mom.' It had been buzzing in his locker through the whole. surgery. He still wasn't put on the OR, So it wasn't the best time to answer.

Lydia saw who was calling and smiled. "Thanks for today. I've already taken up so

much of your time. You should go. I can handle the rest here."
