chapter459
The two officials were so hyped, they forgot all about the long line of cars waiting behind them for inspection. Maybe people who don't follow racing wouldn't get how big a deal NO1 is, but these two definitely did.
It's the number one racer in the world. That's not just some title. That's the stuff of legends.
This was unreal. It didn't matter why NO1 suddenly showed up at the track today. What mattered was they were actually going to see her unleash her skills right here, right now.
Lydia, helmet on, just nodded. Yeah.
Instantly, the two officials squeezed in on either side of her flashy car, gave a big thumbs-up, and snapped a picture with her.
Up ahead, Rory noticed the commotion and scoffed. "Give me a break. What's with the drama? They are about to crash and burn anyway."
Once Lydia cleared inspection, it was Iceblade's turn. He was a man of many names, and Jay was just one of them. He held an A-level license, but everyone knew his real skills were S-tier. Rumor had it he was friends with NO1. Not that he was friendly. Jay was all attitude, kept to himself, and if he didn't like you, he made sure you knew it. Not the most popular guy around.
So when the two inspectors saw him, they were stunned but kept quiet. No one dared ask for a selfie. Still, inside, they were buzzing with excitement. This year's race was going to be wild.
All twenty-six cars finally rolled into position. The qualifying round was about to go down. In big racing events, qualifying sets the starting order for the main race. Drivers push their cars to the limit, going for the fastest single lap to grab the best spots on the grid.
The starting lights flashed. Every eye in the stands locked on the cars, engines rumbling, hearts pounding right along with them.
Suddenly, the lights went dark. Go time!
The cars tore off the line, tires screeching, smoke swirling in their wake. Lydia's team shot forward, taking the inside track and opening up a lead.
Chris, Weston, and Arden led the pack while Lydia and Iceblade held the back, blocking Team Country D's attempts to pass. They knew every trick in the book and played it by the rules but they were pros at keeping. the competition at bay without crossing the line.
Taking care of those chasing behind was nothing for Lydia and Iceblade.
Team Country D's drivers were stunned. They'd sabotaged those racers, so how
were they still killing it out there?
"And we're off The qualifying round is underway! Team A is out front, way ahead of the pack! Team Country is right behind, but-oh! Overtake failed TeamA's got two amazing drivers locking down the lead, keeping their team in front!"
"Look at that! First place, Chris!"
"Weston's right behind in second!"
And Arden's holding third! It's a Team A sweep so far!
The announcer's excited play-by-play made everything feel even more intense. The
crowd went wild, waving flags and screaming for Chris.
In Team Country D's cars, the drivers were losing it, gripping their wheels so tight their hands hurt, but nothing worked. They couldn't get past those two cars in front. It was like running into a pair of moving walls, blocking every move.
"And another failed overtake from Team Country D! Folks, are you wondering why they just can't break through? Are you curious who's holding fourth and fifth place,
shutting Team Country D down? I can't believe what I'm seeing!"
"If I didn't have the official roster right here, I'd think I was dreaming!"
"Oh my God. In fourth place, it's the one and only racing legend, NO1!"
