chapter681
Daisy just stared, completely floored that Monica was actually siding with Lydia.
Was this because of that cheap bottle of sunscreen? She felt her voice shake with disbelief. "Monica, seriously? I can't believe you're doing this. Lydia gives you some random sunscreen, and now you're on her side? She literally threw water at me. You and Fiona both saw it happen!"
Monica stood her ground. "We saw Lydia throw water on your bed, Daisy. But do you want to explain to everyone why she did that?"
Fiona couldn't hold back either. "Exactly. After Lydia got off the phone with her boyfriend, Monica and I teased her a bit. We joked that if the guys at school found out she was taken, they'd be devastated. But what did you say then?"
Daisy went pale. She shot Monica and Fiona a look that could kill, already cursing them out in her head a thousand times over. No one crossed Daisy Rivers and got away with it. Not if she had anything to say about it.
Everyone else was just as stunned. Lydia had a boyfriend? Seriously? It wasn't just the boys who were shocked, even the girls couldn't believe it. Lydia was gorgeous, smart, and had everything going for her. What kind of guy could possibly be good enough for her? With her looks and brains, her boyfriend had better not let everyone down.
Daisy took a deep breath, trying to regain control. "Monica, Fiona, are you sure you want to do this? I was actually planning to ask my parents to help you both find good jobs after graduation. But now, you've really let me down." The message was clear. Go against her, and you go against the entire Rivers family.
Monica and Fiona exchanged a look, totally blindsided. They never expected Daisy to put on a performance like this.
Ms. Brown, who had been trying to figure out what to do, suddenly felt her mind was made up. Daisy just mentioned the Rivers family, and everyone knew that making them angry was basically asking for trouble. Lydia might be the school's star student, the one who'd aced the national exams, but at the end of the day, she was just a kid from some small town. She grew up in the countryside, probably didn't have two pennies to rub together. There was no way she could compete with the Rivers family.
Ms. Brown turned to Lydia, her voice cool and stern. "Lydia, you got the top score in the country, but it doesn't mean you can break the rules here. I'll say this one last time. If you apologize to Daisy, I won't expel you."
Daisy, seeing Ms. Brown take her side, looked up at her with teary eyes. "Thank you so much for being fair, Ms. Brown. My grandpa and my parents will be so grateful for what you're doing today."
That was exactly what Ms. Brown wanted to hear. She patted Daisy's shoulder and said, "Daisy, it's your first day and you've already been treated so unfairly. Don't worry, as your dorm supervisor, I'm going to make sure you get justice."
"Thank you, Ms. Brown," Daisy sniffled, putting on her best pitiful act and letting the tears fall again.
Ms. Brown shot Lydia a sharp look. "Lydia, your grades might be
impressive, but your attitude is
seriously awful. You bull
your
roommate on the first day and even roped your roommates into it if you get expelled, those two will get written up too. I hope you're ready for the consequences."
Lydia just rolled her eyes. She pulled out her phone, called someone, and said,
clearly annoyed, "Some advisor here wants to expel me for no reason."
Kevin had just gotten back to his place on campus when he picked up
the call. The moment he heard Lydia's voice, he went ballistic. "Who the hell even thinks they can expel my girl? Tell me where you are, sweetheart. I'm coming over night now."
