Lydia didn't even bother responding. She just opened the back door and slid in, ignoring everything else.

Lucinda lifted her chin, all smug, and claimed the front seat. She shot Garrett a sweet, teasing look. "Garrett, remember when you used to take me out? Every single time, you'd buckle my seatbelt for me."

Garrett, in the middle of buckling his own seatbelt, paused and grinned. "You're not a kid anymore. That's your boyfriend's job now."

Lucinda pouted. "He's not as thoughtful as you."

Garrett just chuckled. "Maybe I should give Caspian a few tips next time I see him."

The truth was, Caspian had only ever shared a car ride with Lucinda once, on Friday, when he picked her up and buckled her in. Lucinda was clearly showing off, probably just to annoy Lydia, and making Caspian look bad on purpose.

"Thanks, Garrett," she said, acting all sweet.

She figured it didn't matter anyway. It wasn't like Caspian and Garrett saw each other much.

Sunday afternoon was chaos around Capital College and Capital Med School. The traffic was jammed up with students coming back for the new week. If Garrett hadn't had to drop Lucinda off, he wouldn't have been stuck in all this mess. Instead, he had to take her to her dorm before heading to the med school.

He checked the time. He was supposed to meet Mr. Moore at four, but it was already three fifty-eight. Stuck at a red light, he had no choice but to call Kevin and apologize, explaining that he'd be late because traffic was just impossible.

He'd planned everything perfectly, but now he was looking at being half an hour late.

Lucinda had no idea Garrett actually had a meeting with Mr. Moore from the med school. When he hung up, she looked genuinely guilty. "Garrett, I'm really sorry. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't be late."

Garrett could only shrugg. "No worries. I already told Mr. Moore."

He dropped Lucinda off at her school, but she immediately complained about her luggage. Two big suitcases, way too heavy for her to drag alone. So Garrett ended up walking her all the way to the dermat entrance.

A bunch of students watched in shock as Lucinda got out of the Car with this tall, refined, ridiculously handsome guy. At first, some

look and they realized it wasn't.

Curiosity won out. "Lucinda, who was that who brought you? He's so cute!"

Lucinda couldn't hide her pride. "That's my brother, Garrett. He just got back from overseas a couple days ago. He insisted on dropping me off himself."

The envy in the air was almost visible.

"Oh my god, Lucinda, you're so lucky. Elliot's already a celebrity and now Garrett is so handsome and treats you so well. I'd be happy with just one brother like that.

I heard Garrett from the Norwood family is a medical genius. Lucinda, is your brother a doctor?"

Lucinda nodded. "Yep. My brother's incredible. He came back from abroad because the country needed him for some big biology research project. I don't really get it, but it's important."

One of the girls leaned in, voice dropping. Lucinda, does your brother have a girlfriend?"

Yeah, Lucinda, a guy that hot must be taken, right?
