chapter991
The chaos stilled for a split second as Falcon spoke, tension hanging thick in the air. Then, out of nowhere, Lydia sprang forward, quick as a flash, landing right next to Falcon.
He stared at her, completely dumbfounded. He'd never imagined a girl could move like that. His eyes nearly bugged out of his head.
"You... ah "
Falcon didn't even get a chance to finish. Lydia kicked him hard between the legs. He doubled over, almost passing out from the pain, struggling just to breathe.
"Boss!" The guy who was holding Luke shouted, panicked.
Lydia didn't waste a second. While the man was distracted, she snatched Luke away from him, her movements still sharp but slower now, weighed down by Luke's limp, bloodied body. She started dragging him toward the helipad, but after just a few steps, she frowned, something not feeling right.
She didn't even get to look down before Luke suddenly twitched in her arms. She tried to push him away, but she was too slow. The boy she thought was unconscious suddenly pulled a dagger from his sleeve and drove it straight into her chest.
"Lydia!" "Lydia!"
Connor and Sweet Potato were still fighting nearby, but the moment they saw what happened, they froze, horror etched across their faces.
Lydia's face twisted in pain, but she fought through it. Gritting her teeth, she used every ounce of strength she had left to fling the fake Luke away from her. He wasn't Luke. The effort made her wound ache even more and she coughed violently, blood spilling from her lips.
The blood was almost black.
The blade was poisoned, and not just any poison. This was the kind that killed fast.
"Lydia!" Connor's voice cracked. He looked like a furious lion, tearing his way through the crowd to reach her.
"Lydia!" Sweet Potato and the others yelled, their voices shaking. Their unstoppable boss had been hurt. None of them could believe it.
Everything around Lydia started to blur. She fought to keep her eyes open, to stay awake. Before Connor could reach her, another one of Falcon's men tried to sneak up on her, but even hurt Lydia managed to kick him away. The pain twisted her face, but she didn't let go?
"Lydia!"
Just as she was about to collapse, Connor finally made it to her side and caught her in his arms.
Her face was as white as paper. Her lips had turned a sickly gray from the poison, and her hair was stuck to her forehead with cold sweat She looked up slowly, her eyes glazed, her voice rough and weak ..."
She tried to speak but started coughing again. More blood seeped from the corner of her mouth, dripping onto Connor's hand. The sight was terrifying.
She instinctively covered her mouth, but the blood kept spilling between her fingers.
The blade... it was poisoned?" Connor's voice trembled with rage.
In that moment, it felt like his whole world was shattering. His eyes went completely red, burning with fury. It was the kind of anger that could burn everything to the ground.
"You hurt her? You're all dead!" he growled, his words low and dangerous, murder in his eyes.
Falcon, finally coming to his senses, staggered back, his legs shaking as he faced Connor's rage. Still, even as fear flickered in his eyes, he managed to laugh, wild and triumphant.
"Connor, that little surprise was supposed to be for you! Didn't expect you to hide behind a girl. She took your plaser That blade's got a deadly polson on it She's as good as gone."
