chapter689
Ms. Powell finally turned her gaze to Ms. Brown, who was cowering in the corner. She spoke only once, her voice calm and final. "Ms. Brown, don't bother coming in tomorrow. The school will be issuing your termination notice."
Getting fired with a formal announcement meant Ms. Brown's reputation would be ruined. No school wanted to hire someone with a record like that.
Ms. Brown's eyes filled with tears. "Please, Ms. Powell, don't do this. My daughter just got into this university. I want to stay with her. If I leave, how will she manage on her own?"
Ms. Powell's tone was dismissive. "Do you see any other students with their parents attending classes with them? Stop making excuses."
Panicked, Ms. Brown rushed over to Lydia, voice trembling. "Lydia, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have blamed you. Please, I'm begging you, don't let the school fire me."
Lydia's lips curled into a cold smile. "Where was all this humility when you and the Rivers family tried to get me expelled?"
Ms. Brown was at a loss for words.
Lydia's smile turned mocking. "If it had been someone else tonight, what would you have done to them? Expelled them? Smeared their name? And the roommates who stood up for them, would you have dragged them down too?"
Ms. Brown broke down, sobbing. "It's totally my fault. It won't happen again.
"Adults have to own up to their actions. Go find the Rivers family. Maybe they'll help you find a new job."
When everything was over and everyone had left, Monica and Fiona stared at Daisy's empty bed, still in shock. It felt like they'd just woken up from a wild dream.
Lydia's expression softened as she glanced at them, her voice sincere. "Thank you both for tonight. It's late, you should get some rest.
Monica and Fiona could barely process what had happened. They just nodded, still reeling. "Yeah, you too. Good night."
The next morning, all the freshmen at Capital Med School gathered for their training.
The training would last about two weeks, covering dorm inspections, basic combat moves, orienteering long marches, squad tactics, target practice, and even mook battles There were also hands-on sessions for first aid and CPR.
The first five days would be on campus. After that, training would move off campus, but the advisors hadn't said where yet.
At eight on the dot, everyone showed up on the field in their uniforms, ready to go.
Lydia looked incredible in her training uniform. She stood tall and confident, radiating an energy that made her impossible to ignore.
Monica's jaw dropped. "Lydia, you look like you were born for this."
Fiona nodded in agreement. Lydia just seemed different from everyone else. There was no doubt she woul be the focus of attention during training.
As Lydia walked to the cafeteria with Monica and Fiona, people couldn't help but
stare. Whispers followed them everywhere.
The story about Lydia and Daisy's showdown in the dorm had already spread through the girls' dorms. By now everyone on campus was talking about it
People were impressed with how fearless Lydia was, going head to head with Daisy.
I heard someone saw Daisy leaving last night with her parents.
"Wait, seriously? So Lydia actually won?"
"Looks like it. The girls in the next room said they heard Daisy screaming and crying."
"Wow, is Lydia really that badass? Who is she, anyway?"
No idea, but Ms. Powell, Bobby, and even Ronald all showed up last night.
And what about Lydia's boyfriend? Who is he? Is it really like what Daisy said..."
